ON TODAY'S SECRET
The bible is a book with a lot of stories, secrets and figures. It is very easy for one to read any of these stories and miss out on facts about people in the bible that are hidden in plain sight. Many times, because of how long it would take to read the whole book, we’d rather just depend on Sunday school stories and Hollywood to get one or two accounts from it and frankly, even these sources may overlook some of these facts. But whatever the reasons are why people miss some biblical facts is not our concern. What our concern is however, is to show some biblical figures whom you are probably very familiar with, and facts about them you most likely never knew existed.
Today, let us look at something about Moses you may find shocking!
Did you know;
MOSES ENTERED INTO THE PROMISE LAND?
If you have ever attended Sunday school or any
church service, or maybe you’re not a Christian but have Christian friends, you
most probably have heard the story about Moses. He was sent by God to rescue
the Israelites from the hands of Pharaoh; the king of Egypt. Moses succeeded in
rescuing the Israelites and took them through the red sea. However, they were
to go through the wilderness before getting to the land God had promised them.
While in the wilderness of Zin, the people needed water and Moses was
instructed by God to speak to a rock for water to come out. But instead of speaking,
Moses struck the rock and God said he wasn’t going to enter into the promise
land (Numbers 20: 2-12)
But all through the bible we have noticed God saying
things and then changing His mind when pleaded with. For example God told
Hezekiah through prophet Isaiah that he was to die. However He changes his mind
when Hezekiah pleaded with Him and 15 more years where added (bible reference).
Another example was with the Israelites when they made a calf for themselves as
a god. God was angry and told Moses He wanted to wipe them out. He later
changed His mind when Moses pleaded (Exodus 32:1-14 http://drbo.org/chapter/02032.htm
). In this same manner, Moses pleaded with God to see the promise land but
being angry at that time, He told Moses not to speak on the issue again (Deut.
3: 23-26 http://drbo.org/chapter/05003.htm
). Surprisingly the prayer was answered. Even though he didn’t enter with the
others, Moses was present in the same promise land with Jesus at the transfiguration
centuries later (Matthew 17:3 http://drbo.org/chapter/47017.htm
).
and behold, there appeared unto them Moses and Elias talking with himSo technically, he entered!
